Advertlets.com
I was randomly sifting through blogs in hope of reading something interesting last night when I came across a sidebar banner like this:
As a law-abiding citizen (and of course netizen), I did follow instructions to click as told! By the way, you can click on that little banner to access their website too! Unfortunately, either my network or their website was having problems as the page did not manage to load fully. Feeling really tired, I left the page to load and went to sleep.
When I woke up this morning, the first thing that greeted me "good morning " was this cute illustration from my laptop:
Intriguing isn't it? I just had to find out more about it. (By the way, I constructed this picture myself and you can click on the picture to link to their website.)
Within 10 minutes, I am on the "register" page of Advertlets.com. Reason? I want to find out how the hybrid polling cum advertising system works. What's more? They pay advertising dollars to place an ad on your blog, so why not? I guess many other bloggers who signed up had that thought in mind too! It's fuss free and everything is set up nicely for you.
Disclaimer: Do not expect to earn great bucks if yours is just a personal blog with less than 100 hits per day =)
Putting an ad on your blog has another interesting advantage - you get to see different ad banners with fanciful designs to decorate your side bar and the service or product being marketed may be of concern to you too!
Well it turns out that the the ad is a standard sidebar banner and there are two tiny buttons at the bottom like this:
It's for readers to input comments and also do a simple 4-question survey. I personally feel that these buttons should be made more "visible", in other words, eye-catching. If I didn't pay close attention to the skyscraper, I would have missed it! I bet many of you reading this now didn't realise the existence of such a function right?
I have learnt all about target audience and research analysis through my communications and new media modules. Hopefully I can check out the demographics of my readers! See who are the loyal readers of my blog or to see it in another way which kind of people do i appeal to? =P
Do me a favour by doing that simple survey ok? It's not only for the benefit of Advertlets.com but also for my own pleasure to look at the survey results! =D
