is a touching hokkien movie by Royston Tan, my idol!!! =D Haha I really like his works and my "one-sided love affair" with him dated way back to when I was in secondary school. Woah, can't believe that I was that artistic since so young! Still remembered that he came to showcase his short films in my sch and I was really touched by a few of his films. Ever since then, I make it a point to take note of his productions and I personally feel that he should be admired cos he is one of the very few successful film makers in Singapore! What's more? Many more foreigners know him better than Singaporeans do!(In terms of appreciating his works and recognising his talent) What a shame =(

I watched this movie with my mum and sis last wednesday(8aug07) at tiong baru during the premiere screening super early in the morning at 10am. Haha cos my sis won 2 pairs of tix and we thot it wld be really nice to have my mum watch this show since it's has a very heartlander plot about getai performances. Moreover, approximately 60% of the show have their dialogue in Hokkien. It would be good if some organisation or just someone can hold a charity movie night(or fund raising event kinda stuff) for the elderly folks and screen this show for them to enjoy. I feel that they will appreciate the show more than youngsters do. Just my personal thot though... Maybe I can suggest this to arts club charity cell or NVAC =) OR even Royston Tan himself!!! Hee

Oh anw, the reason why I said it was a touching show and that the older generation will appreciate it better was cos I saw my mum crying during the show!!! OMG i was so shocked cos I didn't think tt it was a tear-jerking show. Anyhow, it jus made her cry and I tink it may apply to other older folks too?

And the song is quite nice too!

If you're thinking of watching this show with your friends,DO NOT! Bring your beloved mum or dad instead esp. those parents who are in their 50's or 60's and seldom watch movies in cinemas nowadays! You can even bring your ah gong and ah ma too! If they'r still ard [ =( mine's not...] Anw, very sweet Royston made this movie for his mum too! Cos his mum cldn't understand all his previous works which was too "artistic". One of the very very few movie with contents catered for the older generation.

P/s: Remember to bring a jacket to the freezing cinema for your loved ones n_n
